All of LCP's Team, with students and teachers! group oakland photoCeline Tseng

Whether it is in Fullerton or Oakland or across the world, whether it is a national competition, an ensemble festival, or an international competition, our LCP teams have emerged victorious. It is great honor then, that we welcome them all to perform back at home base, where we can show them our adoration.

All winners from the United States Open Music Competition and Fullerton Ensemble Festival  and American Protege International Concerto Competition will assemble in the Chopin Performing Hall on March 12th a 5:00PM. Everyone is invited and attendance is completely free. Free refreshments will also be served.

In this concert you can expect no less. You can be prepared to see some of the most pristine musicianship all year. These students won trophies from panels of judges. They’ve won medals, they’ve won money, they’ve won beautiful sparkling gems and for one, an invitation to  perform in Carnegie Hall, New York.

And you will see why, from the first piece right until the final act, on Saturday, March 12th, at 5:00 PM.

American Protege International Concerto Competition… EVEN MORE RESULTS?!

BREAKING NEWS!

We’ve spoken far too soon. In additional the 6 USOMC Winners and the 9 Fullerton teams, we have a final contestant that scored BIG TIME.

Taking up Aldric Gozon’s mantel from 2015, LCP pianist Celine Tseng has entered the American Protégé International Concerto Competition in 2016. Contestants complete from all over the world, and a panel of judges review a video submission of their performance.

Winning this competition is no easy feat. There is just simply no room for error. From the first note to the final bow, a single slip will cost them everything. It might even cost them an invitation to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York.

Celine Tseng, our 15 year old pianist, has risen up to the challenge. Arming herself with a concerto by Saint-Saens, she spent months perfecting her piece.

And she won.

Celine Tseng has been chosen as the FIRST PLACE WINNER of the 13-18 age category for this international competition. She will perform in Carnegie Hall on July 2nd.

But before then, she will also be performing in our Winner’s Concert on March 12th.

For this Little Chopin has no words. From Fullerton, to USOMC, to this International competition, there are simply no words to express how proud we are. Let’s give it up to Celine Tseng. We salute you.

Trophies in the Fullerton Ensemble Festival

Trophies in the Fullerton Ensemble Festival

So we’ve mentioned Oakland. We’ve told you about how they all won and all that. Right. What about Fullerton? What about that competition that took a few days after Oakland, descending quickly upon our other LCP teams? What about that massive fest of fingers dancing and sweat inducing madness? What exactly happened?

NINE out of TEN teams we sent in placed in the circle of winners.  We have winners that placed in Early Intermediate, Intermediate, Late Intermediate, Advanced, AND the category for eight hands. In fact, two out of three of the winners for Intermediate were from LCP, and ALL the winners from the Early Intermediate category were from Little Chopin!

All of LCP's Team, with students and teachers!

Yet the most staggering feat of all is that MORE THAN HALF of those in the circle of winners received the grand prize and got to take home an extra trophy. (I think they should just call this competition the Little Chopin Ensemble Festival with some guests performers…)

Please welcome the winning Fullerton Teams!

USOMC… RESULTS?!

The United States Open Music Competition Team is back. But how did they fare?

For this year’s USOMC, we sent An Hoang, Charisse Vu, Andrew Luu, Carolyn Tran, Nicole Ho and Bella Dang. This is a much larger team compared to last year, in which we’ve only sent two LCP pianists. The odds of them losing are greater.

But fear not.

Because every single one of them has taken home at least one medal, most two or more! All teams have placed from a range of 4th to 1st place in NINE different categories, be it Classical, Romantic, Ensemble, or even Concerto. Better yet, in THREE of those categories, we received 1st place AND a cash prize each!

How could things possibly get better? It can. On the night of the winner’s concert, they were judged yet again. In the last, definitive, and decisive category, USOMC’s mission was to select the winner of winners, the absolute champions of champions!

And LCP did not stutter. They delivered! A single LCP team was selected out of all winning teams for best performance, and received beautiful emerald green stones.

Watch out, Fullerton!

Can you believe it?! It’s a week into February and you know what that means…

Our Fullerton teams are back in action!

Every year we send an elite group of pianists to compete in this rigorous struggle for the trophies–to place themselves within the “Circle of Winners”–and to even win cash prize! Cal State Fullerton has been hosting this piano competition for 21 years and it will take place on 2-21-16. This page will give you more information on how to get there.

This competition is no joke. Pianists are forced to work together, matching their rhythym by the tick tock of the metronome, and their dynamics by the breath of their SOUL. Any pianist who has done a duo/duet knows how hard it is to make progress. It is a slow climb. They practice on their own and meet up–and pray that magic happens!

And somehow it will.

Somehow, after waiting for their turn to perform in front of three judges, they will pull off two pieces that they have poured arduous months into. They will find out their results some minutes or hours after, and perform that very night in Fullerton’s theatre. Year after year, we have won again and again. Last year’s teams were spectacular, with ALL of our teams placing. What awaits our 2016 LCP Fullerton Team?!

Now everyone! Let’s wecome this year’s teams:

For early intermediate:
Breanna Nguyen & Michelle Ho
Sarah Pham & Kayla Pham
Isabella Tran & Madison Tran
Samantha Nguyen & Eric Vo

For intermediate:
Julia Chau & Jennifer Chau
Thanh Tong & Trisha Tong
DJ Vu & Rachael Vu

For Late intermediate:
Emily Nguen & Kristine Tran

For Advanced:
Katrina Tran & Kassandra Tran

For 8 Hands:
Ashley Dixon, Anthony Tran, Dayna Nguyen, & Michelle hoang

Wish them the best of luck everyone! The pianos at the studio will ring loud with the notes of our fated teams, but let our cheers ring louder! GO LCP!
